The Durability of Duralast® Wheels for Harsh Environments

As detailed by Hamilton Caster in their article Duralast® Wheels, Duralast® wheels are engineered for durability and high performance, combining advanced materials with innovative design. These wheels feature a high-grade liquid cast polyurethane tread, approximately 3/8″ thick, chemically bonded to heavy-duty iron wheel centers. The distinctive green treads are non-marking, chemically inert, and resistant to ozone, grease, and most oils and solvents, making them ideal for demanding industrial environments.

Duralast® wheels are guaranteed against tread separation for one year in ordinary free-wheeling applications, providing long-term reliability. They are available in various configurations, including models without bearings, or with straight roller, precision ball, or precision tapered bearings. Larger sizes (over 5” diameter) equipped with straight and tapered bearings feature ball-check lubrication fittings for maintenance ease.

Key physical properties include a hardness rating of 90-95 Shore A, tensile strength of 7000-7400 psi, and exceptional abrasion resistance, outperforming standard wheels by 5 to 10 times. They withstand temperature ranges from -50° to +200° F intermittently and 0° to 180° F continuously, making them versatile for challenging environments. Occasional steam cleaning will not damage these wheels.
